jump rope

When I was in grade 2 I was a part of Jump Rope for Heart, and because I'm an over-acheiver I got all those prizes they give you, like the gym bag and jump ropes, etc. When they brought these prizes to my classroom they called out Andrew Baker's name b/c he also got stuff. Then they called "Nicole Baker" (rather than Barker). I remember being really embarassed because the class giggled or muttered, and I remember thinking "they must think we're married". Ridiculous thought, of course, but I was in grade 2.
Funny how adults forget that kids sometimes have the same feelings as we do. Weird how I can remember that feeling of embarassment as being identical to the type of embarassment I'd feel now. Or maybe my memory is distorted by experience. Who knows. Either way, I remember being embarassed.
